BB ISP got your BT?

Now that our Big Brother ISPs have begun throttling BitTorrent data packets, its easy to blame the ISP for any slowdown in the network regardless of the real reason. We can certainly get into a discussion about rights and throttling but until that issue gets through the courts, it seems to be a growing problem.

Now there is an easy way to rest easy at night by testing your broadband connection for throttling by your ISP. This tool, called Glasnost, simulates BitTorrent data packets and measures the bandwidth compared to normal web usage. See the website for technical details.

Alternatively, there are also ways to stop your ISP from throttling your BitTorrent in the first place.
